My name is Russ Reno and I have been taking photos for over 40 years. As a child, my sister Toneia (Reno) Mayes and I would play with Grandpa's 8mm movie camera acting out our own adventures. I love Alaska and have lived here most my life. My mother, Kathy (Kvasnikoff) Reno, is an Aleut-Russian from Cordova, Alaska. My grandfather, Alex Kvasnikoff, built and pastored the original Little Chapel in Cordova, Alaska. Alex and his wife, Percola "Perky", were missionaries on the Aleutian Chain and traveled all over Alaska via my grandfather's bush plane.

My career began in Alaska as a radio announcer in the 1980/90's for KWHL/KFQD, Power 102, KGOT/KYAK, Magic FM, KMBQ, KBEAR/KEAG and Mix 103.1. I also worked as a VJ on Catch 22, a locally produced Music Video TV Station. I later went on to produce my own television programs on KYES 5, KTVA 11, KIMO 13 and eventually purchased my own Prime Cable CH 50. My company, Independent Video, produced independent television for Alaska. Alaska Real Estate, Homes Plus+,Video Car-Lot, Bush Billies Thursday Night Movies and What-A-Dish. We also offered featured programs; "Alaska Sales & Service Presents" and "It's A Lu Lu Small Christmas Special." I also was a sports anchor on KTVA 11 for Valley News, an AVT Production in Wasilla, Alaska. During that time, I fine-tuned my skills and learned the nuances of professional photography and production.

In 2002, I decided I wanted to see Alaska. I closed my studios and took a job as a tour guide and bartender on the Midnight Sun Express - Princess Cruises domed rail cars. I traveled the rails from Anchorage to Fairbanks and fell in love with tourism in Alaska. I went on to manage Portage Glacier Cruises, owned by Holland America, which was later acquired by Holland America - Princess Land Based Operations (HAP Alaska). During my 8 years with HAP, I rekindled my love of photography by capturing the majestic Portage Glacier and sharing it with the world on social media. In 2012, I opened Anchorage Downtown TourGroup, a travel and tourism brokerage firm in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. My studio is now located directly across for the Hilton Hotel on 3rd Avenue in Downtown Anchorage.

There is not much I will not photograph. It is not the subject that matters, but the distance and angle in which you capture it. I hope you enjoy my site. I am available for hire anytime. I also enjoy my community and love being involved in local events. I encourage suggestions and comments. If you know of a news-worthy or non-profit event of interest you feel I should capture, please contact me.
